Chapel Haddlesey Doorstep Green is a shared community area in Chapel Haddlesey for recreational use by adults and children of our villages.
The funding came from the Countryside Agency (50%), now known as Natural England, and the remainder was from the Landfill Tax and a small amount was raised by the Doorstep Green committee. The Parish Council share the running costs of the site with the Doorstep Green committee and this is usually around £1400 per year.
Fundraising events have included a Winter Ball at Darrington, a Northern Soul night in Chapel Haddlesey Community Hall and a Halloween party. Events are held on Doorstep Green each year including a Party in the Park in the summer and Christmas Carols around the tree.
The children of the school often walk down to the area to enjoy some fresh air and explore the wildlife. There is a pond, picnic tables, a climbing wall and willow tunnels for all to enjoy.
The Doorstep Green committee have recently purchased a marquee which is available for hire for private functions. Please contact school on 01757 270282 to receive contact details of the committee members.
