On Monday, 27th January 2025 8 adults and 61 children from Barlow, Burton Salmon, Chapel Haddlesey and Hensall Schools, travelled to Sheffield Arena to take part in the Young Voices concert. The guest artists this year were MC Grammar, (teacher turned rapper), Tommy Blaize (lead singer of the BBC Strictly Come Dancing band) and Souparnika Nair (known as Sou, a 14-year-old young singer from Britain’s Got Talent). The children were equally nervous and excited but once they began to sing to their audience containing family and friends their nerves soon relaxed to enough enjoy the performance fully. Isabelle said “ The Young Voices club was really good, we got to take it in turns to play the music. The concert was really loud, but the music was really nice. There was a young girl who had been singing since she was seven, she was really good.” A huge thank you to Mrs Sykes for running the Young Voices Club, making sure the children knew all the songs and all the right dance moves, and to Mrs Hall, Mrs Wood and Miss Staton for giving up their evening to accompany the children at the event.
