In Class 1, for our recent Thrive sessions we have been reading stories that allow us to discuss and explore how certain characters feel in certain situations. EYFS read the story 'Mr Large in charge' and explored the emotions of both Mr Large and Mrs Large. We used superb vocabulary such as: weak, unwell, overwhelmed and anxious. We emphasised how important it is to think of our parent's feelings as they do such a good job at caring for us and it can be hard for them at times!
Year 1 read the story 'Today I am strong ' that opens up discussions around bullying. We talked about what bullying is and how we should respond to situations where we may see this behaviour or feel it ourselves. We resonated with the little girl’s feelings regarding going to school, how we can enjoy school but also feel a little worried at times.

Class 2 are navigating the Thrive strand 'Power and Identity'. We have explored how to build self-esteem and identify our 'superpowers' through team games, friendship bracelet making, self-portraits, dream jars, and creating a secret Class handshake just to name a few activities. Class 2 are grateful for the wonderful donations of beads and bracelet making supplies, we created some very special bracelets to share as a class.

The children said, “We enjoyed making bracelets because I liked sharing them with somebody else”.

“We enjoyed making our secret handshake, but it’s top secret!”

Class 3 have been exploring different people’s values by looking at personal values and our heroes. We are also looking at other people’s perspectives by playing games and working together.

The children were asked what they liked about Thrive.

Jack said: “I really like Thrive because it helps the classroom build as a team”.

Seth C said: “I like Thrive because it brings everyone together”.

When asked who their heroes were, both boys said it was their parents.
