Volunteers

Calling all parents, carers and grandparents to join our school community as volunteers!  We would love you to join us to share your experiences of, life, work or hobbies to enhance our children's learning.  Our children and staff really value our volunteers and appreciate the time that they give to our school and they are made to feel very welcome.  Our volunteers offer a wide range of practical help to our children by listening to them read, practising times tables, running our Library and helping out at our after school clubs such as Cookery Club, Craft Club, etc.

Our volunteers engage in a full induction programme, following our strict Safeguarding procedures and undertake a DBS check which is free of charge and conducted by the school upon application.  Volunteering is flexible and can be as few or as many hours as you are able to able to give.

If you would like to join us and spend some of your time helping our children to achieve their goals, please complete the Volunteer Registration Form and send it to Mrs Charlton, Admin Assistant at [email protected].  If you would like further information, or would like to discuss the possibility of volunteering, please telephone Mrs Charlton on 01757 270282.

Here's what Martin Grassam, one of the family volunteers at Barlow Primary has to say about volunteering:-

"Recently I have become a volunteer at Barlow Primary School.  I had previously worked in a school environment but not directly with children.  Having limited experience of working with children I was a little apprehensive about this venture but my apprehension didn't last long!
The staff and children were very friendly and welcoming and my fears were soon dispelled. Under the guidance of the class Teachers my duties are, listening to the children read and helping with times tables, etc, on a one-to-one basis. The children enjoy the individual attention and the Teachers are very grateful for my contributions.
Becoming a volunteer has opened a whole new chapter in my life and I can’t begin to explain the joy and fulfilment it has brought me.  Knowing the children are benefiting from my help gives me a real sense of satisfaction.
If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer don’t hesitate to make some enquiries and I’m sure, like me, you’ll find it a worthwhile and rewarding experience."
