Yorkshire Show Vegetable Box

Back in February this year Mrs Hall entered our school into the Great Yorkshire Show's School Vegetable Box Competition.  The designated theme for the box this year was "Best of British" and after some brainstorming, the ideas started to flow!

The whole school played a part in getting the vegetable box up and running. Pupils designed the mural for the side of the box, planted seeds, transplanted plug plants, watered, weeded and helped with the diary.

After submitting the entry, we were lucky enough to be selected for a visit by a judge at our school. The gentleman was so impressed with the pupils knowledge, understanding and the diary, it all made him smile. Following what seemed like a long wait we received the following email:-

Thank you for entering our Vegetable Box Competition. The judges all enjoyed visiting the schools to meet the children and seeing the results of their hard work.

Congratulations! We would like to invite you and your Vegetable Box to the Great Yorkshire Show for the Grand Final on Wednesday 13th July.

Mrs Hall and Mrs Smith attended the show and spoke to the judges. They were impressed with our effort! We didn’t win the main prize but the taking part, coming in the top 12 and receiving a certificate and a rosette for our time was well worth it.

A huge thank you to Mrs Hall as she was the drive behind the entry and cared for the vegetable box during the school holidays.
