Great Yorkshire Show

Back in February this year Mrs Hall entered our school in the Great Yorkshire Show’s Vegetable Box Competition.  The theme for the box this year was ‘Nutritious Delicious’ and Mrs Hall embraced the theme by planting tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, parsley and cabbage as well as some flowering plants to encourage the bees. Children from across the school have helped with the maintenance of the box and created a diary to showcase its progress.  In early June the school was visited by Fay Grace, Chair of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s Charitable Activities Committee, and her husband, to judge Round One of the competition.

We were lucky enough to make it through to the final round at the Yorkshire Show.  Mrs Hall and Mrs Smith accompanied 5 children from Class 2 and Class 3 to the Yorkshire Show on Wednesday 12th July where they spoke to the judges.

There were over 200 schools that entered the competition, and we came in at 7th!  Well done to everyone who has been involved and a special thank you to Mrs Hall, who is the driving force behind it.

Whilst at the Great Yorkshire Show the children had the opportunity to partake in various activities including natural art, making tissue paper flowers and cooking and had a lovely day, despite the rain.
